It's been a long three months since the regular season closed September
30th. Ever since, I've been itching to get out, especially since October and
November were so beautiful but there was nothing I could do. However, the
Minnesota 2013 Winter Season opens on new year's day so I hope
to capitalize. Since the semester ended I've spent considerable time
gearing up for it; replacing lost gear, crimping down barbs on hooks, and
buying new leaders and flys. I'm hoping the winter season will be more promising
than last; I've determined the Vermillion River is pretty much the
Bermuda Triangle of Minnesota streams. While how I will fare during the winter
season remains to be seen, here is a list of my new year's goals for 2013:
- Explore the Upper Kinnie
- Fish the Rush River (I never made
it out last season, my only regret but the Kinnie was too good)
- Discover more of the Driftless
Area - SE MN and SW WI
- Trip to Decorah, IA
- Catch a Steelhead
- Give away some Trout Caviar
- Catch a lake trout on a fly rod
